CE Course Description

Social media has been shown to have positive and negative impacts on overall mental health.  While many individuals can feel more connected and informed with social media use, others, particularly younger people, may experience feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and depression that are linked to social media usage. An important consideration is to be able to set appropriate boundaries with social media usage and decrease the damaging effects it can have.

1. Identify the positive uses social media has for learning, social support, and mental health. 
2. Recognize the negative impacts social media has on mental and physical health. 
3. Determine how to best assess the intensity of social media use and addictive behaviors related to such use.
   
4. Examine ways one can have healthy habits around social media usage by setting appropriate boundaries to limit its damaging impacts and increase its positive aspects.
